Simply Amazing.  That’s all I can say about the new Killswitch Engage album: The End of Heartache.  With a new front man and new drummer( Howard Jones and Justin Foley of Blood Has Been Shed) Killswitch has rejuvenated the (as of late) rather placid heavy metal scene with a violent kick in the balls. And with the new additions to the band, I think that the band has become a much more powerful force than they had been, and by listening to anything off of Alive or Just Breathing is saying a LOT.

This album begins with a song called “A Bid Farewell” which sets the mood for the rest of the album.  Howard does some of his best screaming and vocalizing in this song and makes you realize he is the perfect replacement for Jesse David Leach.  The third song on this album is “When Darkness Falls” which was the first song Howard wrote with the guys and is featured in the Freddy vs. Jason movie as the credits roll.  One of the album’s best overall songs “Rose of Sharyn” became a single and a video was made for it.  Both are fantastic.  If having a song on the FvsJ soundtrack wasn’t good enough, the boys will be having the self title track “The End of Heartache” on the upcoming Resident Evil 2 movie, plus a video will be shot for it.

Overall, this album is one of my favorite of all time, plus I’ve fallen in love with Howard Jones’ voice.  As previously stated, this album is simply amazing and I highly suggest checking it out.  To leave you with a tidbit of information, The End of Heartache won the best album at the Metal Hammer “Golden God” awards.

With all the great songs on here, I’d have to say my favorites are “A Bid Farewell”, “When Darkness Falls”, “Rose of Sharyn”, “The End of Heartache”, “World Ablaze”, and “Hope is…”
